Hello Ian
You already have a wealth of advice but just a few more thoughts:
- access can be from more than one aisle but you will lose some of the
space saving potential. If you are thinking of 10+ rows then two aisles may
be necessary depending on usage.
- calculate the access and priority rate, there's no point in having a
space saving if productivity suffers
- check the lighting, the number of recessed luminaires in a suspended
ceiling may have to be increased if the shelving is near ceiling height
- do not have too high shelves unless used for secure, controlled access,
you can't leave kick-stools around and people climb on shelves and they
soon buckle
In general I've found it very useful but you do need a good brief for how
it will be used.
