medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Scholarship today pretty uniformly refers to St. John the harvester as "John Theristes", preferring a latinised Greek form that preserves the morphology of the original to one that doesn't. "John Theristus" sounds about as odd as "Samson Agonistus" would. Or even "Sweeney Agonistus". Best, John Dillon
(who hopes "Theristus" was a typo)
