I should say that given 11thC poor lighting conditions, neither the monks of
the abbey nor the ordinary people could have had a good view of the
frescoes, except for those placed at the front (Christ in Majesty).
The way the frescoes in the barrel vault were displayed is based on
'boustrophedon' which is an ancient way of writing lines alternately from
left to right and right to left. The story at Saint-Sauvin starts on the
right and you follow the first register to the end and then you should walk
back on your steps to follow the other register.
These titles may not be as specific as you need but they are all worth
seeing, if you haven't already done so.
