From recent correspondence on the list there seems to be some tension as to
what the main thrust of list content should be - ie academic or more
general. This followed a cluster of unsuscribes.
I wonder what John Ryan would think about having a Journal club on the list,
and whether there is sufficient interest on the list for this. It may not
suit everybody and might even be pseudo-academic!
Getting hold of all relevant journals and articles, reading them,
interpreting them and forming opinions on them is near nigh impossible, for
me at least. Collective interests, reading, clincial experience and
research/EBM nouse should make this job easier. Answers to questions such as
"should we use this", "should we research it further" or "what if we apply
this idea to---" would I am sure spin out and satisfy the named definition
of the list.
If there were sufficient interest it might be possible to prefix each
Journal Club thread so that those who do not want to participate can
recognise and ignore. Maybe "JC" - or "Journal Club" or whatever.
Just an idea. Is it sustainable? If I am too out of touch you will let me
know.
