Hi
When I read Simon's message my first reaction was 'oh no that was not what
I meant'. Positive the way I see it is finding a way forward which
includes everyone and does not ignore people's experiences of the
oppression and discrimination within society.
But there was a lesson in this for me. Maybe the term 'be positive' is
one of those mindsets advocated ( and overused) by professionals, society
etc as a way of 'overcoming' impairment. And in turn diminishes/quashes
the voices and experiences of disabled people. Thus in future I will be
more careful in explaining what I mean and be aware of how 'positive' can
in fact be negative.......
Thank you
