I wondered if anyone had any comments about foot pedal systems when
transcribing from sound files stored on computer.
The problem is that I have an experienced transcriber transcribing digital
files from her computer. She has set up Soundscriber software on her
computer. This involves controlling stopping, starting, pausing by use of
the keyboard. She finds this cumbersome and slow and can't get fully used
to it after being used to the foot contols of a traditional transcribing
machine. She says it is like working with two hands instead of three.
I looked up footpedals on the web. There seem to be different models at
different prices. Most are American prices. I feel a bit confused. I
don't know which models are likely to work. One website even said that
traditional footpedals from transcribing machines could be converted for
computers. Does anyone have any advice about any of this?
