Surely if there is any doubt in anyone's mind as to whether a post is
legal, decent and honest, they could contact Richard as moderator and
get his approval or not. That way, no one can be offended.
As for the introduction fee, Jim: you are an accountant aren't you? :-)

Subject: Notifying of vacant posts - in my view OK
Personally, I am sure the members will not mind if posts are notified on
the
list.
If the Subject line is clear the message can be deleted without reading
and
we are not likely to see a dozen postings a day.
What does the rest of the list think?

Subject: Economics/Business Studies position in Thailand
Dear All
I am not sure if this is appropriate for this list and if not, if so, I
apologise in advance. I have seen similar things in the past and as a
contributor on curriculum issues I do not feel as though I abusing the
list just for recruitment purposes.
Here at Bangkok Patana School in Thailand we are looking for an
outstanding Economics and Business Studies teacher. We offer IGCSE and
IB Economics, the groups well motivated and the results excellent.
The school is one of SE Asia's leading international schools and the
students very well motivated. Discipline is not a problem and the
campus and working environment second to none.
The department has four full-time staff at present (all male) and one
part-time member who is also deputy head (female). Although the two
departments are separate we work together and two staff members offer
economics and business studies.
The package includes a tax-free salary of about 80 percent of UK levels,
housing allowance (about 400 GPB a month), bi-annual return flights,
full private medical cover, full scholarships for dependants and a
settling-in allowance. Cost of living is very cheap and although
Bangkok can be hell, Thailand is a great place to live.
I have worked here for six years since leaving the UK system and could
not return now.
If you are interested in specific details you can see the advert in the
TES, look at http://www.patana.ac.th/Recruitment/ (follow link on top
left) or look at www.patana.ac.th/economics
Sorry if this is against the list ethos.
Kind regards
Simon Foley
