> However being pedantic we are not really entitled to be called Doctor.
Most of us are only Bachelors with the MB BS and do not hold the MD or PhD
Doctorates.
Definition of doctor: a licensed medical practitioner...and in most
dictionaries this comes long before: a person who has received a doctorate
from a university.
> At least half of my consultations are interrupted by the phone.
Precisely Helen, it bugs me that with a room full of three-hour waits,
someone can just pick up the phone and get straight to the front of the
queue for a consultant opinion, while the waiting room continues to swell. I
do like NHS Direct for taking that away from me - also saves the British
public from enduring my delightful telephone manner!
> I think that's okay. It's better that we each have our own style. Isn't
it?
Sure makes things a lot more interesting Renee!
> Nurse: Has the doctor seen you yet?
> Patient: No, but that porter's examined me.
> It's been Dr for me ever since!
Ah Nick, I always knew that that hairstyle would be your downfall some day!
