Dear Zooarch,
This email is to invite you and your colleagues to a one-day workshop on
digital data in archaeology at the King's Manor, University of York, on
Wednesday 28th January 2004. I would be grateful if you could forward it
to students or other colleagues that may be interested.
The workshop will map current and future developments in the fields of
online accessibility and digital archiving for researchers in the HE
sector. It is designed to assist and support the creation, dissemination
and use of high quality digital research resources in archaeology. It
will inform the development of new funding applications by highlighting
strategic issues of concern to those who fund projects. This will repeat
the successful formula of previous workshops - taking into
consideration, of course, developments which have taken place since
then.
Who should come? Researchers who are...
* Holders of major research grants from the AHRB the British Academy,
NERC, Leverhulme or the like
* Holders of digitisation or resource enhancement grants from bodies
such as the AHRB, the Heritage Lottery Fund, etc.
* Those intending to apply for any of the above
* Unfunded researchers in the HE sector
* Researchers who have completed significant research projects in the
last five years
* Graduate students on the verge of completing their research and
* Post-doctoral fellows at any stage in their research
Outline Programme
The Workshop will open with coffee and registration at 1030, beginning
in earnest at 1100. A final programme will be presented on the day.
Topics will include:
*Digital resources in research
*Funding research and digitisation in archaeology
*Publication and digital archiving in archaeology
*Intellectual property rights
*Good practice in the curation and creation
Participants are also invited to identify topics to discuss with experts
at informal surgery sessions.
