Hi,
Some details of network facilities for the GridPP8 meeting at Bristol,
22nd-2rd September.
Videoconferencing
-----------------
The meeting will be broadcast, on a best-effort basis, via the ESnet ad
hoc H323 service. We hope to receive at least one talk via video. You
will need to register for the service to listen in:
http://www.ecs.es.net/
We also attempt to "simulcast" via VRVS (room Earth/Island), though this
has yet to work...
Networking facilities
---------------------
We will provide wireless network facilities in the Physics department,
and there are copper connections in the Computer Centre (across the
street). In order to comply with the University's regulations, you will
need to connect via the Nomadic Network facility. This may require you
to download and install some software on your machine, so do this before
you come!
Instructions are at:
http://www.nomadic.bristol.ac.uk/connect.html
A few notes:
- We have pre-registered a bunch of guest accounts, so no need to
register. You can ask for a password when you arrive.
- No CD is needed! (if you download the software before you come).
- Please come to us for support, rather than the Computing Service.
- You will need to use the VPN server "visitor-vpn.nomadic.bris.ac.uk".
- You will need to our web proxy.
Cheers,
Dave
