Hello list-members,
Will individuality survive 21st century technology?
Baroness Susan Greenfield and Prof Heinz Wolff.
Monday 27 October 2003, 7.30pm.
In the future, technology will impact at all levels: at the molecular level,
with genetics; at the cellular level, with drugs; at the cell/body level,
with nanotechnology and scanning; and at the body and environment levels,
with information technology virtual reality, augmented reality, and
bioterrorism. Could these new technologies dismantle our unique human
qualities, thus marking the obliteration of the individual self? Could the
individual self be subsumed in the collective extremist movement?
Baroness Susan Greenfield and Prof Heinz Wolff will be in conversation
discussing the issue of individuality and the responses that society can
make. This should be a lively discussion as the two speakers have very
differing opinions on the subject matter.
Tickets cost £8 (£5 concs) and can be booked by visiting www.rigb.org or
phoning 020 7670 2985.
Best regards,
Olympia
