The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) provides
independent and balanced analyses to both Houses of Parliament on
public policy issues with a basis in science and technology. Further details

We are seeking someone to join our team to cover the general area of
biological sciences and health policy.
He or she will research and compile briefing material, drawing on external
advice and expertise to analyse a wide range of subjects in science and
technology policy. Projects range from short, 4-page briefings to longer
reports and will require an ability to research areas with which the staff
member may not already be familiar - recent topics have included the
UK Biobank, food poisoning and caesarean sections. The position involves
contacts with Parliamentarians, select committees in both Houses and
a wide range of UK and overseas organisations.
As a minimum, candidates should possess a first degree in a biological
science subject and have experience of policy analysis and relevant work
experience. A relevant higher degree would also be an advantage.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate that they have good analytical,
interpersonal and communication skills. In particular, they should be able to
write objectively, clearly and concisely. The person appointed will be expected
to deal impartially with controversial issues in a political environment.

days; a choice of final salary or stakeholder pension; interest-free season

available on payment of a small fee. There is the opportunity to apply for
other positions within the House of Commons Service, subject to
satisfactorily completing a probationary period.
