Dear All
I've just had an interesting chat with a master's student (Stuart McGill)
who has some spoken data of a language called Paasaal, an African tone
language spoken in Ghana. He tells me it's from the Gur language family,
and also related to Sisaala.
It would be a great help if anyone working on African tone languages
(especially Paasaal, Sisaala or the Gur group) could get in contact with him
- or me - for a bit of correspondance on the subject, or perhaps recommend
some references. I've never worked on African tone languages and so am at a
bit of a loss. He's particularly interested in the tone aspect, and is
using SIL's Speech Analyser to look at the properties of the F0.
Stuart's email address is: [log in to unmask]
Many thanks
Jane Setter
