Devon Great Consols: A collection of contemporary articles and reports
compiled by R. J. Stewart.
The Tamar Mining Press has just brought out its first publication "Devon
Great Consols - A collection of contemporary articles and reports".
Described by one of its directors as "a mine of mines" Devon Great Consols
was, in its nineteenth century heyday, the largest Copper producer in
Europe and, latterly, the largest arsenic producer in the World. This is
the first book devoted to the mine since John Goodridge's booklet published
in 1964 and as such its publication is a very important event. As the title
suggests it is a collection of nineteenth and early 20th century reports on
what was one of the most important mines in the west of England. The
publication runs to 60 pages and contains seven contemporary reports from
publications such as Mining Journal, The Tavistock Gazette, Transactions of
the Devonshire Association etc. The book is A4 photocopied, with card
covers and a stapled/taped spine.
Devon Great Consols costs £6 plus £1 p&p (U.K Only)(cheques payable to R.J.
Stewart)and is available from:
