Suggest they use the MDA and MA shows (see their web-sites:
www.museumsassociation.org and www.mda.org.uk)
We'd also be keen to have a chat as we are the largest and leading
specialist independent ICT consultancy in the culture sector and help a lot
of museums with planning and implementing technology such as this. It would
be useful to understand their plans, etc.

Subject: Interest from the US?
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am the Deputy Curator of the small independant Museum in
Dartmouth, Devon. Following a major change of Trustees in the past few
years we have modernised hugely - still very much ongoing - and Registered
to phase 2 and gone in for a computerised catalogue. There is some way to
go with the project but after a study of the mda survey of a few years ago
we went for Past Perfect. It is an American system which I had a fair hand
helping to Anglicise and v 3.0 is now fine for us. mda were complimentary
about the American version and have not had time yet to look at the new one,
though I have asked.
In the process of working with the American team it was necessary to
at least try to convice them that there could be a market over here. Since
then a number of smaller museums have gone the PP route and with luck are
pleased with it. Having talked on e-mail with the Company I consider they
are a friendly lot and very willing to modify/update the system to suit
users needs. Now they would like to show PP off in this country. Can
anyone out there please let me and them know of a suitable forum, perhaps a
museums trade exhibition or equivalent that they could use?
I am about to take an extended holiday (a couple of months) so would
be most grateful if you would respond direct to the following e-mail (and
keep me as a CC addressee please). Please send to

One fine day when I am back from hols (end of June) I will try to
get round to doing a writeup of the system for the MCG newsletter and for
anyone interested I do have several fully functional (but limited in the
number of artefacts enterable) demo discs. Anyone interested shoud respond
before Wednesday and with luck I can get one in the post.......
Thanks in advance! David
