Principal Library Assistant (Reader Services and Operations)
Clerical and Library Grade C4: £15,053 - £17,416 per annum (pay award
pending)
Applications are invited for the post of Principal Library Assistant
(Reader Services and Operations), an established post available
immediately, to join the team of seven staff at the History Faculty
Library in Broad Street, Oxford.
Duties of the post will include: the supervision of services and staff
at the Issues and Enquiries Desk; responsibility for the efficient
operations of the Oxford Libraries Information System (OLIS) circulation
functions in the HFL. Training will be provided, as necessary. Working
hours are 36½ hours per week, with regular Saturday and evening duties
worked during term time.
Good communication and IT skills, experience and an enjoyment of working
with library users, the ability to work effectively as part of a small
team in a rewarding but busy and sometimes physically demanding post,
and a strong customer focus are essential. Experience of working in a
lending library and operating a library circulation system, and a
knowledge of Modern History or a related discipline are desirable.
Familiarity with OLIS, other Oxford library databases, and the GEAC
circulation system would be a distinct advantage.
