What makes effective online services? 28 February 2003
This highly practical course will identify the different forms of online interface e.g. websites, email, FTP, and it will examine the key principles of good design iillustrated by real-life examples of success and failure. Delegates will be introduced to an easy-to-use method for interface design, and will also learn about testing the effectiveness of interfaces and be introduced to a simple evaluation technique.
This course is for non-technical staff with responsibility for, interest in, or influence over, the online services offered by their organisations (e.g. product managers, publishers, editors, business development managers and marketing staff).

Introduction to Journals Marketing 18 March 2003
This course is an introduction to the changing and challenging role of marketing journals today. Expectations of Editorial Boards can be high, and marketing executives need to find ways of coming up with marketing which is both impressive to editors, reaches the markets effectively, AND is achievable to do with the resources available. By the end of the course, delegates will have assessed and discussed a variety of marketing ideas presented during the day and put them to the test by working on a case study.
The course is aimed at anyone with quite new responsibility for marketing journals, whether in a big publishing house where journals are only part of the activity, or a small association publishing primarily for its membership. The contemporary nature of the course also makes it an excellent refresher of best practice in journals marketing today.
