Dear All,
This message follows on from a recent posting to this list by Karine
Chapuis of Sage. After receiving Karine's message I decided I would do a
quick review of our subscriptions to see how Ingenta/Ingenta Select has
managed to cope with the change of publisher ... my conclusion was not
very well at all! I thought list members might be interested in our
experiences.
I found three of our current titles where we had existing access listed
on our web pages. These were now broken links as the URLs within Ingenta
have obviously changed to reflect the new publisher but no forwarding or
redirection has been offered - gripe number one!
Gripe two - the same three titles had managed to become de-activated in
the process of changing publisher and we were no longer listed as a
subscriber at Ingenta. This is despite assurances from Sage that they
work closely with Ingenta by regularly sending lists of subscribers etc.
through to them.
However, the plot thickens as a quick check of Ingenta Select indicated
that we were activated as subscribers via that route. I thought the idea
was that IngentaSelect and Ingenta offered the same level of access to
content across both platforms and we administrators only had to set up
access at one interface for it to be activated across both. Have I been
mistaken here? In just the last hour working on this Sage list I have
found at least four titles where our activation and subscriber status
differed between Ingenta and IngentaSelect - goodness knows what I might
find if I started investigations on a wider scale!
