*Apologies for cross-posting*
On behalf of the Institute of Physics (IOP), I'm pleased to announce that
the popular 'Articles citing this article' tool in our Electronic Journals
service has been extended. Users can now identify citing articles from The
American Physical Society (APS) and the NASA Astrophysics Data System
(ADS), as well as those from our own journals.
This exciting development means that our forward citing tool is now more
useful than ever for understanding the influence that articles have had on
later research. It also enables users to identify related articles in
their area of interest.
The tool is available on our abstract pages to subscribing institutions
and complements our comprehensive reference linking facility. Users at non-
subscribing institutions can take advantage of these tools for articles
that are freely available.
*Take a look*
You can try both tools out for yourself for the following articles in New
Journal of Physics, our free electronic-only title, which is co-owned by
the Institute of Physics and Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft:

http://www.iop.org/EJ/abstract/1367-2630/1/1/313
Please note that full text access to citing or cited articles is subject
to subscription status.
As you can see, thanks to these tools, users are now very well equipped to
embark on information trails, navigating backwards and forwards in time.
Those at institutions subscribing to our Historic Archive (all IOP
journals from 1874-1992) will be in a particularly good position to
exploit them. Subscription information for our Historic Archive is
available online at:
http://ej.iop.org/pdf/historic_archive.pdf
We are confident that news of this development will be well received by
users and would be grateful if you could pass it on to them.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the APS and the ADS
for their assistance. Without it, this development would not have been
possible.
Forward citing links to other publishers' content will be added to our
Electronic Journals service in due course.
Regards,
Lucy Pearce
