Lecturer B in Remote Sensing

Applications are invited for a Lectureship in Remote Sensing from 1
September 2003.
The Department is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to join its Earth
Observation and GIS research group who will contribute to its research into
the derivation and analysis of Land Use and Land Cover information,
principally as derived from digital imagery. The appointee will have a PhD
in the extraction or use of land cover data or other biophysical parameters
from satellite imagery. S/he will have an established record of journal
publication, and be active in grant applications. Previous university
level teaching experience would be an advantage. The appointee will share
responsibility for teaching Remote Sensing at both undergraduate and
Master’s level with other members of the research group.
Undergraduate and postgraduate duties will accompany the post. The
situation at the present time in the Department is that all staff have more-
or-less equality of time, based on a work-credit system, spread across
teaching, research and research management, administration and external
activities. The persons appointed would be expected to spend at least some
time on all of these areas, although the exact amount in any one of these
areas would be subject to negotiation.
