Subject: General Session IGC Florence
Dear Colleagues,
could you please post this announcement on the geometamorphism list.
Thank you.
Dear All,
we would like to announce and invite contributions to the General Session
G01.07 - Subduction zones: reconciling experimental constraints to natural
records - to be held at the 32nd International Geological Congress (August
20-28, 2004, Florence, Italy). Reliability of current models on subduction
zone dynamics is obtained through integration of constraints provided by
experimental studies in geophysics, petrology, and geochemistry with direct
evidence from natural records both in modern subduction zones and in
orogenic belts. The goal of this symposium is to promote a synthesis
between experimentally extracted data and systematic geological studies on
a wide range of properties of minerals, rocks, fluids, and melts at
conditions typical of subduction zone environments. Oral and poster
presentations are both welcome. The deadline for abstract submission is
January 10, 2004, and more detail can be found at
http://www.321gc.org/home.htm.
