Hi,
Help - I am looking for simple museum gallery activity ideas, based on the
concept of what archaeology is, for primary school children. The small
museum in Dumfries has an excellent collection of cased artefacts from the
early people of south west Scotland and also handling material.
I have to bear in mind that this will be teacher led, with the limited help
of trained gallery staff. Gallery space is limited and 'messy' activities
are banned, though I would have liked to have had a sand box where they can
'excavate' selected artefacts and record them etc. I know children love
dressing up so I had thought about white coats, cotton gloves etc for their
excavations to make it more 'scientific', or maybe that's old hat by now?
Can anyone who has done any similar projects or has had a brainwave be kind
enough to share their ideas with me?
Thanks in advance.
