"Managing Complexity: Training Program for Professionals in International
Assistance"
The Institute for the Study of International Migration at Georgetown is
currently designing a training program for humanitarian agencies, intended
to assist experienced staff members who are moving from technical and
programatic responsibilitites into supervisory and management posts. The
training has two stages. The initial three week segment at Georgetown
University will expose new management staff to the many issues and
competence areas they will need to master (and to lay the groundwork for
useful networking). The second segment is a distance education program where
participants will utilize the information and skills gained from the first
segment on a project developed in partnership with their institution.
