A short course on dyslexia in Further and Higher Education
Dates: July 7th to 9th and 14th to 16th 2003 (a total of six days)
Venue: City campus, De Montfort University, Leicester (accommodation
available)
Fee: £470 (accommodation extra)
This course provides an opportunity for participants to develop their
understanding of dyslexia in order to maximise their effectiveness to
dyslexic students in Further and Higher Education. It is expected that
those who take part will have a role within an educational institution which
brings them into contact with dyslexic learners (i.e. not necessarily a
teaching role).
Participants will consider issues concerning dyslexia in Further and Higher
Education from their own perspectives, that of the institution and the
learners. The course offers opportunities for participants to test their
learning with activities which support self-reflective practice. Issues
covered will include: The definition of dyslexia and the institutional
context; Student experiences; Legislation and ongoing debates;
Identification and support.
The course can contribute to a Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or MA in
Dyslexia Studies, as a 30-credit module. For further information on this,
contact me by email or as below.
