Workshop on spam
European Commission, Brussels, Belgium
A one day workshop on unsolicited commercial communications or spam ,
organised by the European Commission.
Building on the 'opt-in' regime to be introduced in all Member States by the
end of October, the workshop will aim at discussing additional measures
needed to address the various legal, technical and educational facets of
spam e.g.: effective enforcement by public authorities, co-operation within
industry (filtering, codes of conduct), consumer awareness, international
co-operation.The workshop will be introduced by Commissioner Liikanen.

Payments and confidence
European Commission, Charlemagne Building, Brussels, Belgium
This Conference aims to improve information on the security of modern
payment products and systems in the Internal Market, and to discuss the
security approach to enhance public trust and confidence in electronic
payments. The Conference is a priority action under the Fraud Prevention
Action Plan. About 450-500 participants will attend representing
stakeholders from different EU institutions, national authorities and
central banks, payment providers, retailers and consumer organisations.
Journalists are welcome to attend.
