Heck, I've known quite a lot of systems that didn't even *HAVE* a
concept of standard error, so they certainly don't use unit 0
for it.
No, I don't keep track. I don't even have a list to check to see if
any of them are still current, or of what unit numbers all current
systems happen to use. I don't hard-code such assumptions into my
code, so I've never needed to keep track.
