I am currently evaluating a course based largely on use of the discussion
board and want to include some information about access in my report.
Although the patterns of access seem credible (regarding time, distribution
over the week etc.) and have been checked with students own reporting of
usage the volume of access is grossly exaggerated.
I realise some students may be accessing the area and not actually
contributing but does anyone know the exact explanation, i.e. just how are
'hits' calculated?
