Sounds like the problem addressed in the Blackboard knowledge base entitled
"Microsoft Office XP documents are not accessible in Blackboard 5.5.1" We
had a problem with Powerpoint presentations only and this did the trick.
The fix described in the knowledge base is aimed at those running the server
on a Microsoft platform. Something similar works for a Unix box. The fix is
to find the perl module ContentFileTools.pm, and edit the line that starts
my @exts_video (about line 22), using a text editor, eg. vi in Unix or
Notepad in Windows. You just have to add the extensions ppt, pps and
possibly doc to the line.
Line 22 before modifications:
my @exts_video = qw(avi mpg mpeg mpe qt mov moov wma asf);
Line 22 after modifications:
my @exts_video = qw(avi mpg mpeg mpe qt mov moov wma asf ppt pps doc);
If you need any more details Kathy, you can email me.

Subject: Powerpoint in Blackboard
We are having great difficulty in getting powerpoint presentations to
work in Bb if they have been saved as web pages.
Anybody got any quick fixes for a frustrated team?
