At a recent meeting of the Heritage Commission of the RC Bishops' Conference
of Scotland, the web site 'catholic-heritage.net' was adopted as the
official heritage website of the Catholic Church in Scotland.
'catholic-heritage.net' [ http://www.catholic-heritage.net/ ] gathers
together the constituent elements of Scottish Catholic Heritage at home and
abroad, allowing for the first time, an online picture of the various
Archive, Library and Museum collections ownedby the Catholic Church in
Scotland. Further information, including the Historic Buildings Register and
Parish and Diocesan histories will be transferred to the site soon.
The Scottish Catholic Archives [ http://www.catholic-heritage.net/sca/ ] has
also found a home here and future development will add to the summary
catalogues, (with detailed catalogues becoming available as the
retro-conversion proceeds) and advice on the services that the Scottish
Catholic Archives can offer.
The Catholic Church in Scotland is almost unique worldwide in bringing
together its archives, library and museum collections on a national basis.
catholic-heritage.net will build over the coming years to give a broad basis
for understanding the diverse collections held by the Catholic Church in
Scotland.
