Dear Zooarch members
I have just started a PhD in the use of "Geostatistics and GIS in Modelling
the Vegetation of Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene Europe" at UCL's
Institute of Archaeology. I am contacting you because in addition to pollen
and plant macrofossil datasets, I also plan on using proxy data (e.g.
mammalian assemblages, palaeosols, beetles, etc.). I am hoping that there
is a database out there (similar to the UK's ABMAP) which covers mainland
Europe (or at least parts of it). Does anyone know of such a database or
has anyone got some geographically referenced data on livestock finds from
mainland Europe for the study period in question? Please let me know.
