--Apologies for cross-posting--
Dear Colleagues
Consultants DHC, Aberdeen University and University College London are
undertaking research as part of the UK DfT FIT (Future Integrated Transport)
research programme looking at how individualised marketing techniques can be
developed to influence perceptions of rural transport options and to support
behaviour change consistent with sustaining rural communities, social
inclusion and rural development.
CO-OPERATE aims to identify the mechanisms to enable wider public ownership
of the development of solutions. Its primary aim is to bridge the gap
between top down and bottom up approaches to solving rural transport and
accessibility.
We have been reviewing published literature on individualised marketing
techniques, and rural transport co-ordination and management and would like
to hear from anyone who is currently undertaking either research or
practical projects relating to:
- Co-ordination and management of rural transport services including public
transport, social work, health service, employment related, community
transport, etc. How have travellers construed the barriers to change and how
have these barriers been overcome?
- Individualised marketing techniques and the targeting of different
approaches at appropriate people groups in rural or urban areas.
- Perceptions of demand responsive and other innovative public and community
transport services.
In particular research identifying how rural dwellers perceive the cost and
quality of service provided when compared with private transport, taxis,
buses, etc.
To discuss best practice, and review the current state of the art in
individualised marketing approaches and rural transport management, we are
hosting a workshop at our office in central Edinburgh on Wednesday 30 April
2003. Further details and a reply form can be found on the
project website at www.dhc1.co.uk/co-operate. Please get in touch if you
would like to attend.
The website also contains further information about the project. We would
be pleased to discuss any aspects with interested parties. Please forward
this email as appropriate to colleagues and contacts.
best regards
