Yes, you are right, I was quoting a smaller Oxford dictionary and not the
OED itself.
May I then offer a personal distinction between the words? It is based on
what judgement makes a new development 'good' -
* If the question to ask is "is it true?" then the development is probably
one of science.
* If the question to ask is "does it work?" then the development is
probably one of technology.
Many of us, myself included, do both, but that does not mean that they are
the same thing.
