The Royal Society, the UK's premier scientific body is looking for
enthusiastic and committed people to run its groundbreaking Science in
Society programme within its Science Communication Section.
Manager, Science in Society Programme

Salary Band £20,000 to £40,000
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the postholder will be
responsible for the development and management of a series of Science in
Society activities including public dialogue events all over the UK, a
National Forum, a pairing scheme between MPs and RS-supported scientists, a
grants programme and a range of related activities.
Candidates should have a degree or equivalent, a thorough understanding and
appreciation of the issues surrounding Science in Society and at least 3
years experience of managing projects in this area. The postholder will be
responsible for managing two officer level posts. S/he should have excellent
communication (both oral and written), IT, project management, interpersonal
and teamworking skills.
Science in Society Officer
Ref: VO7.03
Salary Band £11,000 to £30,000
The post holder will report to the Manager, Science in Society Programme and
be responsible for administering and co-ordinating the Society's events
programme with particular emphasis on activities for the public. Key tasks
include organisation of public dialogue meetings, political pairing schemes,
secretariat assistance, conference and logistics (both external and
internal) and event management. Candidates should have at least two years
administrative experience, demonstrate a high standard of IT literacy, be
self-motivated, confident and adaptable when liaising with a wide range of
people and be able to work flexibly within a small team.
