Planetarium Technician/Presenter
A Planetarium Technician/Presenter is sought in the Science Theatre, Laboratory and Planetarium areas of Techniquest.
Job Specification
Reporting to: Science Theatre Manager
Responsibilities
1. Providing technical support to ensure effective day-to-day running of the Techniquest Planetarium and Starlab dome
3. Ensuring the safety, security and correct operation of all equipment used in the Planetarium and Starlab
4. Maintaining and distributing Techniquest's Kits
Duties
1. Co-ordinating with others in the day-to-day operation of the Planetarium, Science Theatre, Laboratory and Discovery Room
2. Technical production of Techniquest's new and existing planetarium shows
3. Contributing to the development of planetarium shows and other presentations/workshops for schools and the general public
5. Delivering, with training as appropriate, some of the presentations and workshops which are offered in the Planetarium, Science Theatre and Laboratory for school audiences from Early Years to post-16 and for the general public
6. Monitoring staff training for the planetarium and Starlab dome, and running technical training for the planetarium
7. Contributing to Techniquest's outreach programme
Requirements
1. A scientific background with an informed interest in astronomy, electronics and computer applications
2. A full clean driving licence
8. Willingness to undertake some weekend and occasional evening work, together with any other related duties as may be necessary from time to time
Salary £12 250 pa
