Michael Rosen is asking for more names for his petition.
This is a petition specifically by children's writers, illustrators
and editors protesting the killing and maiming of children in the
name of the Bush family oil co. I don't see why poets shouldn't be
on it. Send names direct to Michael Rosen.

>hi folks
>this is the petition so far. it incorporates names given to me by
>bob graham from australia (he's released his petition in Oz
>yesterday).
>
>people have forwarded names to me, though sometimes I think they
>thought they were forwarding names and I couldn't find them on their
>email. if you know of anyone else who would/should be there. please
>get in touch asap.
>
>i'm proposing to change the word 'government' to 'governments' in
>the petition because you come from various countries and some of you
>are multi-citizened (nice word? - perhaps not). this also deals with
>possibly dodgy grammar of 'government are' (thanks stephanie n.)
>
>dyan sheldon has proposed that we take out a half page ad in the
>guardian. this costs £4100. I reckon that those of you who would be
>able to get money to me easily and at virtually no cost (ie no
>international mailing) probably come to about 250 of the list.
>that's £16.40 per head. Allowing for dropouts, people who don't get
>the email, people who forget etc. that's about £20 per head.
>
>if people are prepared to pay that, please let me know asap. if it
>doesn't add up to 4 grand or thereabouts, it'll go to the Stop the
>War Coalition to do what they want with it.
>
>Just to warn you: if I send it to the guardian as it is, they will
>put my name on it, and then they will comb through the list for
>names that they recognise and print about five or six of them and
>then say how many signatories are there. I don't think this is very
>satisfactory. (it's happened in other petitions i've signed or
>organised.
>
>I think the ad solution is preferable. if you send me your intention
>to pay, and it comes to enough names, I'll go ahead. if not, it'll
>go to the guardian as it is, as a letter.
>
>very best to you all
>thanks to you all
>sorry if i've spelled names wrongly, or missed anyone out, please correct.
>
>thanks again
>we will win this, if there are enough of us. (every bit counts, said
