I've been interested by the connections of The Tempest and the Aeneid that
have been mentioned, that's a new angle (I think, my memory's not what it
was!) to me and worth pondering. I'm a bit wary though about the questions
on the geographical basis of Prospero's island, we are talking here after
all of a writer who happily set a scene on the sea-coast of Bohemia in A
Winter's Tale, which is not to belittle Shakespeare, but rather a reminder
that he was prone to play loose with facts in his plays.
