I have an elaborately sardonic post to write, but I'm too tired; perhaps
someone else can execute it for me.
The idea is to have a series of paragraphs detailing in escalating order of
severity the mutilations of body and spirit wrought by the Iraqi regime, and
to conclude each one with the refrain "Violence is not the answer". Then
comes a series of paragraphs detailing attempts made by Iraqi nationals to
injure that regime by use of force, concluding with the refrain, "sadly, they
were mistaken. Violence, as the officials charged with their rehabilitation
took the most delicate pains to make clear to them, is not the answer".
Finally a couple of paragraphs on the brave resistance of the fedayeen and the
Republican guards, with particular emphasis placed on their miraculous
ability to defend their country using special mortars and machine guns that
only kill imperialist aggressors and that, especially, are fitted with
state-of-the-art Islamic technology which prevents them from producing
disturbing images of eviscerated tiny infants. "How fortunate we are, "
concludes the piece, "that these upstanding defenders of liberty have
recognised the true motives of the coalition of neo-colonialist gangsters and
their murkily cosmopolitan backers from the world of international finance,
and have borne in mind throughout their heroic resistance the ever-shining
truth that Violence - Sickening Baby-Disembowelling Violence - is Never The
Answer."
