It's only through debate that change and continuous improvement occurs.
I have watched with interest, whilst trying to decide where I stand on this issue. At the end of the day, I think that we in OH are more acutely aware than most para/nurse/med services, of the importance of balancing the needs of the individual with the implications of adequately resourcing of service (pardon the split infinitive).
I absolutely feel that nurses should have the right to express concerns about competency and training, but that they should have an obligation to be trained - and if they fail to achive competency, then that is a capability issue at some point. All clinicians have a duty (in my opinion) to accept that they will need to carry out the practical and clinical skills required of the job/area/organisation!
