Dear list
Having been an expat living in Chile, and can look at this
question from the other side as well. We had a medical with
our GP, vaccinations and an HIV test, and really not much
else. The above were to satisfy our visas. We were relocated
as a family with 3 children.
What would have been useful is a list of the English
speaking private hospitals, local general practitioners,
although in Chile they don't have GP's as such:-in the area
where we were living. This may be an HR issue but local
British Embassies are useful.
I suppose what I am suggesting if you are sending a few
staff out is a local health directory for the expats. This
could include information eg; that all fruit and veg are
washed with correct substance and not to eat the skins etc.
It is an area to think about as more employees are moved
around the world.
Cheers
Clare
