Dear Colleagues,
I am facing some problem during the cross laser experiment
in gas phase
for the detection of chlorine atom (J=1/2 and 3/2). For single laser
experiment I could detect both Cl and Cl* very easily and the result it
exacly matching with the reported one but when I am doing a double laser
experiment I could not get the enhencement due to pump beam where the pump
wave length is 222nn and probe is 235nm. If at 235nm single laser it can
shows the signal for both Cl and Cl* then one should expect some
enhencement of signal due to pump laser also. After giving a delay of 20ns
between pump and probe the signal is simply adding up i.e. signal is
simply a sum of probe signal + backgroung signal due to pump. did any one
faced this type of problem before? I dont have any clue what is the
reason. Without sample also I have scanned the probe laser and there is no
backgroung signal due to oil vapour from the diffusion pump or some where
else and the base pressure is also very fine, it is about 4x10^-6mbar.
Expecting any type of suggestion regarding this problem. Thank you....
