A postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Wolfgang
Jäger at the University of Alberta.
Current projects in the group include: 1) spectroscopic characterization of
helium atoms and hydrogen molecules containing clusters using Fourier
transform microwave, millimeter wave, and mid-infrared tunable diode laser
spectrometers [Science 297, 2030 (2002)]; 2) electronic structure
calculations of weakly bound complexes using our beowulf cluster [Chem.
Phys. 283, 29 (2002)]; 3) instrument (hardware and software) development
[Rev. Sci. Instrum. 69, 4061 (1998)]; 4) construction of a new helium
nanodroplet isolation spectrometer. For more details and recent
publications see http://www.chem.ualberta.ca/~jaeger/
Candidates should have a recent PhD in Experimental Physical Chemistry, be
highly motivated, and have a strong background in spectroscopy. Experience
in programming, instrument development, and/or ab initio calculations is
desirable.
The initial appointment will be for one year, with possible renewal for a
second year. Interested candidates should send a CV, and arrange for three
letters of recommendation to be sent, to the address below.
