Sorry, no inclines served by waterwheels at Grassington, only vertical
shafts. There was a short incline from surface, driven in 1828, which
appears to have been wound by a horse whim. The incline at Cononley mine
had a steam engine. Stephen Eddy, Taylor's man at Grassington, used wire
rope to haul up inclines at the Burlington slate quarries near Barrow in
Furness in the 1840s. I am not clear what the power source was.
