Hi Mike,
Are we talking about a single cable (Huson/Hallidie ) system or a bi-cable (
Bleichert) system?
On the bi-cable, which eventually superseded the single cable system, tower
spacing of 400-500 feet was a norm and longer was not out of the ordinary.
Tonnage per hour, spacing and weight of the ore carriers were among the
contributing factors along with cable weight and size. Peele' Mining Handbook
has many of the formulas if you are a glutton for punishment. I can look at
my books on the subject matter and certainly I would purchase Trennert's book
" Riding The High Wire ". Well done publication.
I will be gone for a few days and I hope to get back to you with more
information.
