Requiring a clear definition of normal pregnancy, labour and birth is a
smokescreen. No one has any firm, clear consensus on this; that is the crux
of much of the current tugs-of-war between professions caring for
childbearing women. That said, I think the document you attached ought to
satisfy any reasonable person that the FBR is not meant to be used unsafely!
Am I reading something into your post, or are the FBRs located within
another maternity institution, so that transfer is a non-issue?
Before the ICM congress in Oslo in 1996, we in the scientific committee
considered having a session on 'normal labour'. We abandoned the plan when
it became obvious that the very notion was a point of contention.
In some circles, primigraviditiy is 'abnormal', despite the fact that about
every other woman in Europe giving birth, is doing so for the first time.
Good luck. You will need it.
