PROFESSORSHIP OF SCIENCE AND CIVILISATION AND
DIRECTORSHIP OF THE JAMES MARTIN INSTITUTE FOR SCIENCE
AND CIVILISATION
Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 October 2003,
or such later date as may be arranged.
The University has recently committed itself to the development of a major
new social science initiative, the James Martin Institute for Science and
Civilisation. The successful candidate will lecture on science and
technology studies and policy, supervise graduate students, undertake
original research, and be responsible, under the Dean of the Saïd Business
School, for the direction and management of the institute.
The professor will be a social scientist of distinction, and must have an
international reputation for research and/or policy, as measured by
national and international collaborations, success in obtaining external
funding, policy impact and publications. A non-stipendiary fellowship at
Keble College is attached to the professorship.
