Cultures of Transport in the Urban Context
Barbara Schmucki (IRS&TH), 'The culture of walking: pedestrians in 20th
century cities'
Laura Milsk (Loyola University Chicago), 'Meet me at the station: the
culture and aesthetics of Chicago's railroad terminals 1871-1925'
This workshop will be held in the Gibb Theatre at the National Railway
Museum, York. All welcome - no charge (NRM car park charges apply).
One-day Research Workshop organized in conjunction with the Historical
Model Railway Society

The Railway Grouping 1923-47: Responses to Change
Six sessions, including a keynote address by Gerald Crompton (Canterbury
Business School, University of Kent at Canterbury, 'The Big Four:
contexts and challenges', and a final discussion chaired by Colin Divall
(IRS&TH), 'The future of research on the Big Four'.
This workshop will be held in the Walker Suite at the National Railway
Museum, York. There is a charge of GBP15.00 per person, to include lunch
