John Logie Baird Commemorative Lecture

In recognition of John Logie Baird's contribution to the development
of Television the theme of this evening event, which includes a wine
and buffet reception, is entitled
"Did Baird See the Future of Television?"
The evening is divided into three talks the first by Ralph Barrett
will cover Baird's life and achievements to be followed by Don
McLean who will look into the legacy of the early television
systems. Ted Taylor will conclude the evening with a view of
modern Broadcast technology and a glimpse into the future.
As well as the talks there will be an exhibition at which there will
be a working Baird Televisor and other early equipment. In contrast
there will be a demonstration of High Definition Television on large
screen displays.
