Museum Development Officer -
Museums in Essex Committee,

£19,185 - £24,726 p.a. pro rata
2 days a week
Fixed term contract to March 2005
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to advise and
promote museums in one of the most populous counties in the United Kingdom.
You will be working to support the Museums In Essex Committee (MIEC), the
networking organisation for over 70 independent and local authority museums
in the county.
With support from Essex County Council, MIEC seeks to appoint a Museum
Development Officer to support the Essex Museums Officer in delivering
advice, training and supporting best practice in museum provision.
You will also be responsible for monitoring and developing the museum
component of Essex's New Opportunities Funded Digitise East of England Sense
of Place - Essex (www.eesop-e.co.uk).
You will be expected to work closely with independent museums and work some
weekends and evenings. You should have a relevant degree and some museum
experience. A post graduate museum studies qualification and knowledge of
new technology would be desirable. A full driving licence or access to a
driver is required.
