Dear colleagues
The JISC's Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI) is pleased to
announce its workshop programme for October:
IMAGE CAPTURE - BEGINNERS - 16th October
IMAGE CAPTURE - INTERMEDIATE - 17th October
The first two workshops in our digital imaging series, which can be
taken separately or together. The Beginners course provides an
introduction and overview of digital imaging and practical exercises
using a scanner and digital camera. The Intermediate course is for
those with some experience of image capture. It builds on the
Beginners workshop, introducing some more advanced scanning and image
optimisation techniques as well as monitor calibration.
CREATING QUALITY METADATA FOR DIGITAL IMAGES - 23rd October
To the uninitiated, metadata can seem a dry and complicated issue.
This workshop takes a lively and practical approach. It considers
metadata schemas and controlled vocabularies and looks at how these
can be used, pragmatically, within a comprehensive metadata framework
for an imaging project.
Please Note: This workshop is complemented by TASI's Image Management
course (see below). Metadata and Image Management were formerly
covered in two halves of a one-day workshop.
... and coming up in later this year...
