This does not pick up my original point - that Resource has once again ignored the majority of the LIS workforce, i.e. those who do not work in public libraries.

Thank you to all respondents.
To pick up on the points raised.
The mistake in not correctly referring to the Public Libraries Authorities Conference was a genuine one, but should have been picked up. Apologies to everyone for that error.
The idea for conference sponsorship came originally from the Public Libraries Group and was tried as a pilot this year. Timescales were such that it was not possible to sponsor places at Umbrella in July. Given the response to the scheme we may extend it in future years.
Incidentally, the sponsorship opportunities were not limited to "young professionals" - the main intention was to provide conference experience to some staff who don't normally have the opportunity to attend.
We very much welcome and appreciate input from all parts of the Museums, Archives and Libraries sector into Resource's Workforce Development Strategy. Progress to date on work on the strategy is posted on Resource's website.
Thanks

I do hope someone high up in CILIP can impress on Chris Batt and Emma Wright that issuing Press Releases demonstrating Re:source's apparent ignorance of the Professional Association representing Libraries, will not do much to:
"help foster cross domain understanding on issues common to the entire sector."

So what is this 'Public Libraries Association'?
I know of a 'Public Library Association' in the USA (part of ALA) but I haven't come across a body of that name in the UK - there is a Public Libraries Group of CILIP - but maybe it's a well-kept secret...
